Excel Diamonds, offering an extremely large selection of superb quality loose diamonds and diamond engagement rings and other diamond jewelry, has undergone an incredibly detailed redesign from a Web 2.0, technical, graphical, and social media standpoint.
RustyBrick redesigned the Excel Diamonds home page to improve branding, conversions, and usability. These three themes recur throughout the entire site.
Using AJAX technology, we revamped the diamond categories with an AJAX slider instead of a traditional "Web 1.0" drop-down box. On these diamond pages, the diamonds are now displayed in an easy-to-use spreadsheet view. Diamonds in specific price ranges can be sorted by carat, color, clarity, cut, and price.
We also integrated AJAX technology with two features that allow users to find the perfect ring setting for a selected diamond, or a perfect diamond for a selected ring setting. For example, users who may choose a round diamond will be offered compatible ring settings, such as solitare engagement ring settings, accent engagement ring settings, or three-stone engagement ring settings.
Emphasis on user experience has been upgraded in the new Excel Diamonds redesign. In the recent history page, users can view all recent history under "My Past Searches." This includes a list of the past 50 searches and pages that a user has visited on the Excel Diamonds site. Users do not need a login to access this feature.
Another addition to the site has been the custom gallery, which allows potential buyers to see custom engagement rings, custom eternity rings and wedding bands, custom diamond fashion rings, and other custom-made diamond jewelry pieces, such as necklaces, pendants, earrings, and bracelets.
By integrating Google Checkout, Google's new payment processing service, we have enabled buyers with Google accounts to seamlessly complete their orders with one step. This compliments our already existing online merchant service, that allows customers to easily and securely checkout using their credit cards.
Social media is also another emphasis of Excel Diamonds redesign. Since blogs allow for conversation with potential and current customers, Excel Diamonds has launched a Diamond Tips Blog, which complements their industry diamond blog, Diamond Vues.
