I am sitting here at Apple Store at Tice's Corner with many of the RustyBrickers, with my iPhone confirmation pickup email. The thing is, many of you with a confirmation email to pick up your iPhone might not be able to pick it up!
On Tuesday, we called the Apple Store to make sure they had our reservations. They had 3 of the 6 of us on their reserve list. Yes, 50% of us were on the reserve list. We all got email confirmations and even the pick up reminder, but even so, only 50% of us were on the store's list.
I suspect something went wrong with the Apple's servers during the pre-order day.
But if others have our problem, then it seems like Apple employees at the retails stores will be in for a rude awakening this morning. Even worse, those who decided to pick up the phone later on in the day, might not be able to get the phone that they reserved.
On Tuesday, Apple had us come in with our reservation emails to prove we had pre-ordered. They then put the 3 of us not on the normal list on the "manager's list." We are still bit concerned that there is no "manager list" but we will find out soon.
I do hope this only impacted the three of us, but I suspect that is not the case. There is a MacRumors thread with people saying they had the same issue.
