West Nyack, New York - RustyBrick, Inc. has launched phase one of the Illuminate The Past project. Illuminate is a global online Holocaust memorial initiative dedicated to honoring victims with a digital candle lighting ritual each spring on Yom HaShoah.
Illuminate's online software is designed to engage next generations through memory and action. Using new technology, social media, and story telling, the project will reach a digitally connected audience and enable them to participate in the creation of a new tapestry of ritual.
When a user registers on the web site they will be identified by a marker on the interactive world map that makes up the home page. Users can locate other participants, open their profiles, read their stories, and track the global reach of the project directly on this interactive map. Before Yom HaShoah, the name of a victim of the Holocaust will be sent to each user's profile to be memorialized. On the eve of Yom HaShoah, users will light a virtual memorial candle that will burn for 24 hours on their desktop or mobile device. On Yom HaShoah, the interactive world map will be transformed by the glow of each of the newly illuminated markers.
