The Retailer Source sells price guns and labels, cash register paper, scale labels and other tagging gun supplies. Not incredibly exciting, but from a web user interface and usability perspective, it was a pretty interesting challenge.
The question on this site was similar to the old causality dilemma, "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" When you come to the Retailer Source, do you buy the price gun or the price gun labels or both? How do we make it easy to buy one or the other or even both? How do we upsell the items, without making it too confusing. Luckily, the site was not brand new and we were able to learn from the previous version before we create a web site strategy for the redesign and coding.
We created an easy to use AJAX based price gun and label finder wizard that quickly helps narrow down the available products based on your search criteria. The special offers and discounts, throughout the web site, give the customer ways to buy multiple sets of labels, guns and gun/label combinations that fit the customer's budget. The variable pricing scales based on gun/label combination guarantees the best price combination will be presented to the customer and an easy and quick checkout process will be available.
The advanced backend features of the simple but yet sophisticated e-commerce site gives the company's management and operations team the ability to oversee the business on a daily basis. From order processing, customer relationship management to less routine product additions and content management updates - this site has it all.
