This week, I finally announced the SMX SphinnCon Israel event. I and my SEO/SEM colleagues from Israel have been planning it for a month or so prior and we finally announced it on Tuesday. The half day event is a less formal and smaller Search Marketing Expo (SMX) conference, tailored to smaller crowds with less content offered for a lower cost.
We priced the event at $50 per attendee. We were only able to do this price point and cover our costs because of our gracious venue sponsor, the Jerusalem College of Technology and sponsors, Compucall Web Marketing and Answers.com. We do hope to secure a couple more sponsors, but we have a few months to worry about that.
The event is on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at JCT's campus. The agenda is pretty jammed packed for the half day event, with 12 sessions on SEO/SEM (search engine marketing) related topics. We have world renowned speakers, such as Vanessa Fox, Gillian Muessig co-founder of SEOmoz, and many more that are not yet 100% confirmed yet. In addition, we have several local experts in Israel who are on the speaker list - many of whom I feel know more about SEO/SEM than most SEOs I know in the states (I won't name people here, there is a partial list on the SphinnCon Israel page. We also have early confirmations from Google that they will be sending someone from the webmaster team and ad team to speak and participate (although we do not have final confirmation on that just yet).
In short, I am very excited about this event and I am personally honored to be hosting it.
We have already sold 80 of the 200 seats, in just about two days since we announced the event. So if you are planning on coming, make sure to register for the event asap. We are limited on space, so we had to cap it at 200 spots. To register, go to our MeetUp group and RSVP there.
Barry Schwartz is the CEO of RustyBrick, a New York Web service firm specializing in customized online technology that helps companies decrease costs and increase sales. Barry is also the founder of the Search Engine Roundtable and the News Editor of Search Engine Land. He is well known & respected for his expertise in the search marketing industry. Barry graduated from the City University of New York and lives with his family in the NYC region.
