A few months back, the management of the office building we lease from made a decision to lock the bathroom doors by our office. The building gave us a key and told us to make copies so our employees can access the restroom.
So we made copies for pretty much all the employees and hung a couple keys by the exit door near the bathroom for our employees to grab if they forget their keys at home.
Day after day, keys went missing. Employees complained they couldn't get into the bathroom because there were no keys to access it. So I guess most lost the keys that were given to them and/or the keys that were hanging we taken and lost as well. This went on for a couple months.
At that point, I didn't want to hear about it. I stopped making copies of the keys and let the employees deal with it. I think several employees made their own copies in batch but those went missing as well. So after enough complaints, we purchased a four key ring holder and these large plastic restroom keychains from Amazon.
They pretty much did the job, the keys have not gone lost. Well, one did get lost for a short period of time but that employee found it in their bag the next day.
If you Google the bathroom keys gone missing at offices phenomenon, you will find it is a popular topic. I just wish the building never decided to lock the bathroom doors.
